LuLu’s

LuLu’s is a must-do for Destin locals and visitors alike! The bay-front restaurant is perfect for kids, teens, adults, and even grandparents.

LuLu’s

LuLu’s is the brainchild of Lucy Buffett (sister to famous singer, Jimmy!) and the restaurant opened its Destin doors in 2015. The Orange Beach, AL location has been spreading the “Gumbo Love” for years. LuLu’s is nestled at the southern end of the Mid-Bay Bridge and overlooks the beautiful Choctawhatchee Bay. Being on the bay is a unique feature to LuLu’s, as the majority of waterfront restaurants in Destin are on the Gulf.

LuLu’s

Our family absolutely LOVES LuLu’s! The entire restaurant is brightly colored, cheery, funky, and just makes you want to have fun.

The kids go straight for the beach out back, complete with sand toys, beach chairs, and a cool water feature. There are plenty of picnic tables and seating out back, making it easy for us parents to keep an eye on the kids.

The sand toys are just the beginning. LuLu’s offers kayak and paddle board rentals, inflatable slides, hair wraps, caricature artists, and a summer concert series. Some of these events and attractions are seasonal, but there seems to always be something fun going on at LuLu’s. There is daily live music, even throughout the winter.
An outdoor bar overlooks the bay, so the parents can enjoy an adult beverage while the kids play. LuLu’s offers Happy Hour Monday-Friday 3-6pm where select draft beers are $2 and glasses of house wine are just $3.

Sometimes we just come to play, but other times we stay for lunch or dinner. The food is great at LuLu’s (for a touristy type place) and the prices are quite affordable for waterfront dining.
The menu focuses heavily on seafood, with a Gulf Coast flair. LuLu’s happily accommodates many allergies- just ask your server.

The fried green tomatoes, nachos, and Crazy Sista’s Crab Toast are among our favorite starters. The fish or shrimp tacos are my absolute favorite entree, while my husband enjoys the fried fish poboy. The tacos will set you back $15.99, but this entree can easily be shared. The salads are also delicious and portions are large (the ginger lime vinaigrette is outstanding).

The kids’ menu is pretty standard.

Our kids love the macaroni and cheese and fish or chicken bites. I love that fresh fruit is an option for the kids (though the fries are delicious!) and it’s actual fruit- not some syrupy mess. My kids always beg for a Krazy Kritter juice drink on the side. Kids’ meals run $5.99, which is a bargain for such a generous portion of food.

LuLu’s

It’s hard to top LuLu’s when it comes to family-friendly dining in Destin. The view is incredible, the food and drinks are great (and affordable), and the atmosphere is just plain fun. Whether you’re on vacation, or you wish you were, check out LuLu’s for a colorful dining experience.
